Compliance

We assist clients in complying with applicable federal laws and regulations. We counsel custom broker clients with regard to maintaining compliance with brokerage regulations and new developments in the law. We counsel FMC license-holders such as freight forwarders and NVOCCs with regard to FMC compliance, such as tariff publication, tariff revisions and carrier agreements.

Importers and exporters should periodically review their compliance with applicable regulations. For importers, we perform customs audits that are designed to verify that entries set forth the proper classification, country of origin and appraisement data. Recent implementation of CBP programs such as 10+2 importer security filings and C-TPAT also present new compliance challenges. For exporters, we provide export control compliance services that include in-house corporate compliance presentations and the implementation of internal controls, such as denied party screening, to minimize the risk of export control violations and introduce and maintain a culture of corporate compliance.
