FMC OTI Training

The Mooney Law Firm provides in-house Federal Maritime Commission training for Ocean Transport Intermediaries. OTI personnel are required to know and comply with the FMC’s regulations, which are nuanced and subject to varying interpretations. They frequently must make quick decisions regarding proper freight billing and issuing shipping documents. Non-vessel operating common carriers and ocean freight forwarders are subject to different FMC rules that should be taken into account during the decision making process. Our training addresses issues such as tariff publication and tariff compliance, forwarder-carrier agreements, proper recordkeeping and recent FMC penalty actions. Well-trained and knowledgeable personnel are critical to maintaining OTI compliance, avoiding penalties, and safeguarding valuable licenses.
